New Year House Resolutions

I have a long list of things I want to accomplish around the house this year. I thought it would be a good idea to make a list of the projects I'm planning to hold me accountable.

1. Make my own upholstered headboard for our bed (I already bought half of the materials I need - time to get moving!)
2. Buy or make curtains for the master bedroom
3. Make a photo wall in the basement for Ted's golf pictures and memorabilia
4. Actually clean up the basement and make it functional and pretty
5. New siding on the garage and organize the inside
6. Finish landscaping the yard
7. Clean out the office/actually use my craft supplies this year!
8. Get a new camera and take good pictures of the house with a fish eye lens
9. Paint a piece of art - already have a big, blank canvas waiting
10. Paint a stenciled design on the back porch floor

I have tons of other ideas, but these are the top 10 that I would really love to finish this year, especially since many of them have been partially started and I have the materials sitting around. Maybe my word of the year should be "focus".

Another thing I'm looking forward to this year is filling out this little book I bought at my newly opened local Anthropologie. It looks like it's no longer available on their site, but the link is for Amazon, where it's actually a little cheaper. I didn't have to pay shipping though, so I'm happy :)
The idea is that the book asks you one question each day about something random and you write a short sentence or two response. They leave blanks with a spot to write the year next to it for the next 5 years. You could choose to do five consecutive years, or skip a few between and see how your answers change from year to year. I'm starting mine as a newlywed, so I expect in the next five years my life will be dramatically different if we start a family.

Some examples of the types of questions are anything from "What was the last restaurant you ate in?" to "What is your biggest goal in life?" It should be fun to fill out - I plan to try to do this every night before I go to bed. If I forget one day it's not a big deal. You can just fill out a few in one sitting if you get in the mood to write.

Anyway, just something fun I found. Happy New Year!
